rabbit Ears

Eloise’s mum passed away when she was little. now, eloise wants to reclaim her life, but that means being honest with herself and confronting her grief. Is she ready to let go?

Sort of…

What happens to a child when a parent dies young?

RABBIT EARS explores the universal themes of death and grief through the eyes of Eloise, a happy-go-lucky girl who experiences the profound loss of her mother at a young age. Without her mum to guide her, how will Eloise exist in the world? RABBIT EARS is all at once beautifully sad, comedic, and painfully honest.

See the short film at festivals from spring 2026.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

𝐑𝐀𝐁𝐁𝐈𝐓 𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐒 is an ode to grief with an uplifting message. It is a film about love and loss, but equally, it exposes a truth - that it can take years to process grief and confront it. My own mother died when I was a child. It was a shattering experience that froze me in time. I felt as though I was living in an adult's world, and for years, I felt stuck, unable to let go of my mother for fear of forgetting her entirely. I sought to capture the isolation, loneliness, guilt and confusion of what it's like to exist in the world when the person you are closest to is suddenly no longer there. The film aims to connect those people who can relate to the experience. For everyone else, I hope the film shows it is possible to let go and move forward after a devastating loss - something everyone will unfortunately go through during their lifetime. I set out to make a touching film from a non-judgmental place about the ways we deal with grief. My wish is that the film resonates with young people and adults alike and leaves the audience feeling hopeful.

We shot 𝐑𝐀𝐁𝐁𝐈𝐓 𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐒 at the end of summer 2025 and wrapped post-production in early December. We filmed locally in Robertsbridge and Hastings, East Sussex. Over 75% of the cast and crew have a connection to Sussex through work, roots or living there. Over 90% of our core cast and crew are female/female identifying. While we had a small budget, I wanted to show that it is possible to tell a story with little funding. The film was made for less than £1,200 without the involvement of a production company.

𝐑𝐀𝐁𝐁𝐈𝐓 𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐒 is my first film and was self-produced. Making it was such a beautiful, sunny and profound experience. The film is a deeply personal project made possible by the incredible efforts and talent of the team who made it.
